Netiquette
When using the internet there are correct and acceptable ways of communicating properly. This includes proper social networking usage to prevent problems with cyberbullying.
The National Crime Prevention Council defines cyberbullying as "When the internet, cell phones, or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarass another person."
***Cyberbullying will not be tolerated in my classroom or by district administration.
***Cyberbullying incedents should be reported immediately to the teacher and/or administration.
***Digital activities are monitored and retained by the school district.

Internet Safety
Tell your parents when you are going online and talk to them about what you're doing online. If someone you don't know tries to arrange a meeting with you, immediately notify your parent or guardian.
*Don't give out personal information, including: Name, age, Address, Phone number, parent's name, school name, passwords or login information
**Be careful when uploading photos: Do not load photos that reveal information such as school or location, make sure backgrounds do not give out location, the name of your location, license plate info of vehicles
***Make use of privacy settings on social networking sites: set it so that people can only be added as a friend if you approve, set it so that your profile can only be viewed by friends
****Don't post personal information about friends: you could be putting them at risk

Copyright Infringement is defined as "the unauthorized use of copyrighted material in a manner that violates one of the copyright owner's exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works that build upon it"
Copyright laws are in place to protect the owner's rights to their work. It is punishable by both civil and criminal courts.
Plagiarism is defined as "the use of another's information, language, or writing, when done without proper acknowledgement of the original source"
Always give credit to a source when you use the information that they provide.
Fair use allows for limited use of copyrighted material, even without permission. It depends upon four factors:
1. the purpose of the use
2. the nature of the work
3. the amount used of the work
4. the effect of the use on the value of the work
